Friends - The one where life gets in the way.
This year is the 25th anniversary of the T.V show Friends.
Anybody who knows me personally or has dropped by my house will know it's one of those programs I always have on.
OK, it's the only program i have on!
I have watched every episode about a million times, and it still makes me laugh.
But let's face, it as much as I love it, it's not exactly very realistic, is it?
Six friends seeing each other every day for ten whole years!
Sure they all have relationships and jobs and kids, but it doesn't actually happen like that does it?
The reality is that as you get older, life gets in the way of seeing your friends.
It's not that you don't want to see them it's just that they are probably at work or planning their next trip to Ikea for new living room furniture.
And when they do have some free time they are that tired, that all they wanna do is sit on the sofa with a share size bag of Doritos and watch stuff on Netflix. - yes, this is me, I'm that friend.
Maybe they have moved a fair distance away and you cant justify popping round for a cuppa if you have to travel 110 miles every weekend to get there.
Whatever the reasons are, it doesn't mean that their friendship isn't valuable to you anymore, it just means that shit got real.
I don't have that many friends, and when I do get to spend some time with them I really appreciate it.
It also reminds you why you need this weird set of people you have chosen as your favorites to be in your life.
So in true Friends style, no matter how long it's been since you've seen your friends, drop them a quick message just to let them know that ... "I'll be there for youu, 'cause you're there for me too..."
Until next time
